The TRS3-C40 Series is a dedicated Type 2 DC surge protective device(SPD) engineered specifically for critical low-voltage DC applications. Designed to protect sensitive DC networks—such as EV Charger / Energy Storage System (ESS), and Telecom Communication equipment—it defends against switching surges and indirect lightning effects.
It delivers stable and highly reliable performance across common low DC voltage systems, with models covering voltage classes from 24V DC up to 110V DC. Its robust varistor surge arrester technology ensures superior transient voltage clamping.
The compact pluggable-module structure ensures easy replacement and reliable operation within cabinets.
Equipped with high-quality MOV-based protection components, the TRS3-C40 offers a substantial 20 kA nominal discharge current (In, 8/20 μs) and 40 kA maximum discharge capability (Imax). This provides strong defense against transient surges commonly seen in low-voltage DC distribution.
With an exceptionally low voltage protection level(Up) starting from ≤0.6v—depending on the voltage class—it efficiently limits overvoltages to safeguard microprocessors and sensitive electronics, helping to maintain system integrity and extending equipment lifetime.
A red visual fault indicator provides instant status feedback, while optional potential-free remote signaling contacts allow seamless integration with monitoring systems for real-time fault reporting. Its DIN-rail mounting design enables fast, secure installation inside small enclosures and DC distribution panels.
Engineered for demanding industrial environments, the TRS3-C40 performs reliably across a wide temperature and humidity range, ensuring long-term stability in critical infrastructure.
Applications
DC network protection for EV Chargers and Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
Surge protection for sensitive equipment in Telecom Communication infrastructure.
Installation within DC distribution cabinets and control systems in industrial automation.
Protection for low-voltage DC networks where the separation distance to the lightning protection system (LPS) is large or absent.
Systems requiring an extremely low voltage protection level ($U_{p}$) for maximum component safety.
