Available configurations
Type 2 SPD pole and circuit configurations
Pole and circuit options vary by series. Confirm the number of phases, conductor arrangement, earthing system and required protection paths before selecting a configuration. Check the connection diagram for the chosen model; pole count alone does not identify a 1+1 or 3+1 circuit.

For the TRS2-C40 1P+N version linked here, Uc is 275 V AC for L–N and 255 V AC for N–PE. These ratings apply to different protection paths, not interchangeable voltage options. Confirm the circuit diagram and complete ratings for any other version before ordering.
Use this table to shortlist models. Open the linked product page and confirm Up, the circuit configuration and the installation requirements for the exact voltage version. The Uc values shown are the listed versions, not a complete list of every available option. Assembly widths apply only to the configurations shown in the referenced drawings.
Selection guidance
Match the ratings to your installation
Start with the system voltage, protection paths and installation requirements. A higher discharge-current rating alone does not establish that a Type 2 SPD is suitable.
Confirm the system and protection paths
Identify the system voltage, phase and conductor arrangement, earthing system and installation point. Select Uc for the voltage across the intended protection path, then confirm the required pole and circuit configuration.
Compare In, Imax and Up
Compare In with In and Imax with Imax, using the stated 8/20 μs ratings. Check Up for the exact model, voltage version and protection path; do not select a device solely because it has a higher Imax.
Verify the selected version
Review the technical data, connection diagram, dimensions and installation requirements for the selected version. Confirm any remote signaling and documentation requirements before ordering.Request Type 2 SPD selection support

Your questions answered
Common questions
What is the difference between a Type 1 and a Type 2 SPD?
Type 1 SPDs are tested with a 10/350 μs lightning impulse current. Type 2 SPDs use an 8/20 μs discharge current waveform and limit transient overvoltages in AC distribution systems. Where the installation requires Type 1 protection, a Type 2 device alone does not replace it. See our Type 1 AC range or Type 1+2 AC range.
How should I compare In and Imax?
In is the nominal discharge current; Imax is the maximum discharge current. Both are stated with the 8/20 μs waveform for the Type 2 models shown here. Compare In with In and Imax with Imax, then check Uc, Up and the complete installation requirements. A higher Imax alone does not establish that a model is suitable.
Which Uc rating should I choose?
Uc is the maximum continuous operating voltage. Select it for the voltage across the intended protection path and the earthing arrangement. Options vary by model; do not choose a rating solely from the supply’s line-to-line voltage. Ask THOR to confirm the complete specification of the required version.
How do I choose the pole configuration?
Confirm the number of phases, conductor arrangement, earthing system and protection paths first. Pole count alone does not define the circuit: a 2P or 4P designation should not automatically be treated as a 1+1 or 3+1 configuration. Check the connection diagram for the selected product.
Can I request remote signaling and technical documents?
Ask for the remote signaling option, dimensions, connection diagram and technical data for the exact model and voltage version you intend to order. If a certificate or test report is required, specify the model, rating and document needed so that the applicable scope can be checked.
What should I include in a quotation request?
Send the model or required In / Imax, system voltage, earthing system, pole or circuit configuration, installation point and quantity. Include remote signaling, documentation and OEM requirements if applicable.
